Sports and leisure time

The wide Etschtal basin with its newly built cycling path, connecting Meran with Verona almost right the way through (exit road near Mori to Lake Garda), makes the Südtiroler Unterland a true cycling paradise. Cycling tours through the pink coloured sea of flowers during the apple tree blossoming in April, are wonderful experiences not to be missed.  If you don’t have your bike with you, you can hire one in Kurtinig.

On the Transalp Challenge route, mountain bikers will find new challenges and lots of pure nature.

Those who love water sports will also be in their element: the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, Lake Kaltern, is only 10 km away and very popular with sailors and surfers.  Almost every village has its own outdoor swimming pool facility.  In addition, you can use the idyllic Fenn Lake to freshen up.

Riding, golfing, bowling, boccia, tennis, fishing and mini golf are only a few sports possibilities found around the area.  If you are looking for a special kick, check out the natural climbing gardens of Marderwand, Hintersegg or Unterlegstein, or try the tight-rope gardens in Terlan, where you can prove your courage around 14 metres above the ground.  If you want to use the climbing path of Margreid-Fennberg, you should have a good head for heights.
