Wine-growing and the enjoyment of wine

The growing of wine and enjoyment of a noble drop, as it comes from these fruitful grounds, has played an important role in this area, even during the Roman Times
During clearing work in Kurtatsch at the Wine Road, a vine was found, dating back to these times. No wonder that also the oldest dated grape in South Tyrol comes from Margreid.
At the Fennberg mountain, which is blessed by its ideal micro climate and the warm winds coming from Lake Garda, the Tiefenbrunner Family of the Turmhof castle cellars were able to cultivate Europe’s highest altitude Müller Thurgau wine estate.
In each of the three villages, there are three wine cellars with famous, celebrated wines. In addition, there is a sparkling wine cellar in Kurtinig, which operates according to the champagne making methods.
Wine tastings and guided tours through the wine cellars can be arranged by booking. Beside its quality wines, the wine estate of Baron Widmann offers an interesting selection of fine wine and fruit vinegars made from their own production.
