Kurtatsch, Margreid and Kurtinig at the Wine Road simply offer a South Tyrolean holiday without stress.

Kurtatsch, with its magnificent mansions of aristocrats from times gone by, sits on a sunny balcony above the Etschtal.  The area of Entiklar should not be missed.  Visit the castle gardens of the Turmhof residence with the swan lake, the grottos and the stony fairy-tale figures, which are second to none.  The hamlet of Penon with its historic church hill and the Roman-Gothic Nicolas church are situated at an altitude of 605 metres above sea level, right in the middle of orchards.  At an altitude of 800 metres, on a type of rock crown from which the hamlet gets its name, the high plateau of Graun stretches its wings.  From the ‘Sitzkofl’ you will enjoy breath-taking views over Kurtatsch and the entire Südtiroler Unterland.

Margreid leans on the steep ascending rock walls of the Fennberg mountain.  It has kept its unique character for several centuries and, therefore, is one of the most beautiful wine villages. The locality of Unterfennberg, which is part of Margreid, is situated on the high plateau bearing the same name at the Mendelkamm, the Dolomite foothills, and offers you a small bathing lake, as well as Europe’s highest wine estate - Müller-Thurgau.

Kurtinig, however, is like an island in the midst of orchards and vineyards.  The village, whose Italian name is ‘Cortina’ is nothing like the famous Cortina d’Ampezzo, but has still lots to offer.

Follow the footprints into the past and you will find yourself returning into the present, enriched in many ways.
